Youth
St. Mary’s Youth Ministry
St. Mary’s youth ministry provides a loving community that leads and supports youth on their faith journeys and energizes them to extend the love of Christ to the world.
Our Offerings for Youth
We celebrate our youth’s personal and spiritual milestones while offering them a comfortable place to just be themselves.
Have questions? Contact our Director of Youth Formation for more details.
Sunday School
Sunday school meets at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings to have discussions, ask questions, and think deeply about faith together.
Sunday school meets in the Education Building at the back of the campus. All youth in grades 6-12 are invited to our youth events — as are their friends!
Youth Group
The youth group meets twice a month on Sunday evenings at 5 p.m. for fellowship, games, and dinner.
We generally will alternate between large group gatherings and the church’s monthly family worship and potluck. No matter where we are or what we are doing, youth group events are always a fun and meaningful time of connection!

Confirmation
Members of the parish who are in 8th grade or above are invited to join this year’s confirmation class. The deadline to register is September 29.
This is an opportunity to grow in faith, learn about the Episcopal tradition, and develop meaningful connections with peers and church members.

Mission Trips
Middle School Trip: Rising 6th-8th graders
Harvest of Hope | Eastern Shore, VA
We partner with the organization Harvest of Hope to learn about the issue of hunger and how we are called to assist our neighbors in need.
In the mornings, we work in the fields together to glean vegetables to donate to local food banks. What we glean will likely be on the dinner table within 24 hours! After gleaning each day we enjoy the facilities at Camp Occohannock on the Bay where we stay and engage in hunger education workshops.
High School Trip: Rising 9th-graduated 12th graders
Appalachia Service Project | Location TBD
Rising 9th through graduated 12th graders are invited to attend this year’s Appalachia Service Project Mission Trip from July 20-July 26. Our location is TBD.
Every year Appalachia Service Project brings thousands of volunteers from around the country to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families. Their mission is to make homes warmer, safer, and drier for families and to provide transformational service experiences for volunteers.

Parent Volunteers Welcome
The adults of this parish, whether they have children in this program or do not, are crucial to the youth ministry and its impact.
Please contact our Director of Youth Formation if you are interested in learning more about what volunteering could look like for you.
