Lenten Soup Supper

March 26 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Samuel Adams UPSem

Our speaker for this year’s Lenten supper series is Samuel L. Adams, the Mary Jane and John F. McNair Chair in Biblical Studies at Union Presbyterian Seminary. This series will take up the topic of lament and loss in our lives and the world. We will engage the Psalms and the book of Job, among other biblical passages, to examine lament and the possibility and promise of hope.

* On March 26 the Rev. John Ohmer will sub in as lecturer while Dr. Adams is unavailable.

Adams is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and has served churches in Chicago, New Haven, and Richmond. His research focuses on wisdom literature and wealth and poverty in the biblical world and today, and he has published on both topics. Other interests include apocalypticism, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Bible and film, and the Bible and Christian theology in the context of American political discourse. He is editor of the seminary’s journal, Interpretation.
